Author Guidelines

The Journal on Development of Intellectual Property and Research invites original, unpublished manuscripts that provide innovative insights into the domains of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and Technology Laws. Submissions must align with the journal's focus on addressing the legal, technical and societal challenges associated with intellectual property and technological advancements.

We welcome contributions in the following categories:

  1. Research Articles: Comprehensive analyses or critical studies on IP-related topics (4,500–6,000 words).
  2. Case Commentaries: Detailed examination of landmark cases or recent legal decisions (2,500–4,000 words).
  3. Policy Papers: Practical recommendations on legislative reforms or policy initiatives (3,000–5,000 words).
  4. Book Reviews: Critical evaluations of recent publications in the field (1,500–2,500 words).

Formatting and Structure

Submissions should adhere to the following guidelines to ensure uniformity and ease of readability:

General Formatting

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size:
    • Body Text: 12 pt
    • Headings: 14 pt, Bold
    • Subheadings: 13 pt, Bold
    • Footnotes: 10 pt
  • Line Spacing:
    • Main Text: 1.5 spacing
    • Footnotes: Single spacing
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Margins: 1-inch on all sides
  • File Format: MS Word (.doc or .docx)

Structure

  1. Title Page:

    • Manuscript Title (minimun 20 words; maximum 50 words)
  2. Abstract:

    • A concise summary of the manuscript (maximum 300 words).
    • Include six keywords related to the article.
  3. Main Body:

    • Introduction: Briefly outline the issue, research objectives, and significance.
    • Analysis: Discuss the topic using relevant case studies, data, or theoretical frameworks.
    • Conclusion and Recommendations: Summarize key findings and propose actionable insights.
  4. References and Citations:

    • Use the Oxford Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
    • Examples of common citation formats are provided below.
  5. Footnotes:

    • Include all references as footnotes.
    • Avoid endnotes or inline citations.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors must ensure that their submission adheres to the following requirements. Please confirm that your manuscript complies with these standards before proceeding:

  1. Originality

    • The manuscript is your original work and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
    • Plagiarism is below the 10% threshold as per the journal’s policy.
  2. Formatting

    • The manuscript is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
    • The document is anonymized (no identifiable author details) for double-blind peer review.
    • Citations conform to the Oxford Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
    • The manuscript follows the required formatting standards:
      • Font: Times New Roman
      • Body Text: 12pt, justified
      • Headings: 14pt, centered
      • Subheadings: 13pt, left-aligned
      • Footnotes: 10pt, left-aligned
  3. Length

    • Word count is within the specified limits for the manuscript category:
      • Research Articles: 4,500–6,000 words
      • Case Commentaries: 2,500–4,000 words
      • Policy Paper: 3,000–5,000 words
      • Book Reviews: 1,500–2,500 words
    • The abstract does not exceed 300 words.
  4. Components

    • Title page includes:
      • Title of the manuscript
      • Author(s) names and affiliations
      • Contact details (email and phone number)
    • Main manuscript body excludes any author-identifying details.
    • Six keywords summarizing the manuscript are provided.
  5. Declaration

    • A signed Declaration of Originality and Exclusivity form is uploaded along with the submission.
  6. Figures and Tables

    • Any figures, tables, or graphs are embedded within the manuscript and appropriately labeled.
  7. Ethical Compliance

    • The manuscript complies with ethical guidelines, including proper attribution and acknowledgment of all sources.
  8. Submission Confirmation

    • You have reviewed the manuscript thoroughly and ensured it meets all the guidelines specified.

Articles

The Journal on Development of Intellectual Property and Research is committed to publishing high-quality, original scholarly works in the field of intellectual property and technology laws. Authors submitting to the Journal must adhere to the following article policies to ensure transparency, academic integrity and quality.

1. Scope and Subject Matter

  • Articles must be relevant to the journal's focus on intellectual property law, technology law, and related interdisciplinary fields.
  • Submissions may include original research articles, case studies, review articles, critical essays, or short commentaries.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Manuscripts must be the author’s original work and should not have been published or submitted elsewhere for consideration.
  • It follows strict anti-plagiarism policies and employs advanced tools to verify originality. A plagiarism limit of 10% is strictly enforced.
  • Any detected plagiarism will lead to immediate rejection of the manuscript.

3. Submission Guidelines

  • Articles must adhere to the Author Guidelines provided on the journal's website.
  • Submissions must include:
    • A title page with the article title, abstract, keywords, and author details.
    • The main manuscript, anonymized for peer review.
    • Any supplementary material, if applicable.
  • It accepts manuscripts in English only.

4. Ethical Standards

  • Authors must ensure their work adheres to ethical research standards, including the proper acknowledgment of sources and avoidance of misleading information.
  • Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of submission.
  • Articles involving research with human or animal subjects must comply with relevant ethical guidelines and include necessary approvals.

5. Peer Review Process

  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review to ensure impartiality and academic rigor.
  • Authors will receive feedback and may be required to revise their manuscript to address reviewer comments.
  • The final decision regarding publication rests with the editorial board.

6. Formatting and Citation Standards

  • Articles must follow the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) for references and footnotes.
  • Submissions must adhere to the formatting guidelines outlined in the Author Guidelines section.

7. Open Access and Licensing

  • JDIPR operates on an open-access model to ensure global dissemination of knowledge.
  • Published articles will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license, unless otherwise agreed.

8. Length and Structure

  • Articles should generally range between 4,000 to 8,000 words, including footnotes.
  • Authors may request exceptions with prior approval from the editorial board.

9. Appeals and Revisions

  • Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. Appeals must be submitted in writing with a detailed explanation.
  • Revisions must be submitted within the specified deadline provided by the editorial team.

10. Copyright and Permissions

  • Authors retain copyright of their work but grant Naovina Development of Intellectual Property and Research Foundation exclusive rights to publish and distribute it.
  • Authors must ensure they have obtained permissions for any third-party material used in their submission.
